Not every Shipyard rental is a short walk from the ocean — and that is worth knowing before you book. The plantation is roughly a mile deep, so your experience getting to the beach depends significantly on which complex you are in.

Complexes closest to the beach — such as Beachwalk — are a 5–10 minute walk to the sand. Properties deeper in the plantation may be 20–30 minutes on foot. Check the individual complex guide for an honest estimate.
Biking
A dedicated bike path runs through Shipyard to the beach access point. Most properties are a 5–15 minute ride. Bikes are available to rent near the Shipyard entrance and at several island shops.
Driving
Guests can drive to the beach parking area within Shipyard. Parking is limited and fills quickly in summer. Availability is not guaranteed, and passes or fees may apply depending on the season.
Beach club access
Shipyard guests use the private Shipyard Beach Club access point. This is separate from hotel facilities at the Sonesta Resort. Access to hotel pools, beach chairs, or resort services is not included with a rental stay.
